Senior Pastor of New LifeChristianCenter of Jamison, PA. Andrew Columbia is a former New York City Police Officer.
Once known as the "iceman" because of his lack of compassion and his stone cold heart, he worked in an area called the Lower East Side, which was known for it's drug and gang activity. During half of his career he was troubled and angry because of the environment in which he worked, and also for the personal battles that raged within him, until one night in Harlem changed his life.
On a rooftop while working a part time security job he decided to finally have an encounter with God. He began by talking to God which quickly turned into shouting and yelling, which then lead to cursing and screaming in anger and frustration. Challenging God if he was" real" asking him to respond to the deep pain he was experiencing in his life.
Desperately desiring answers, communicating the only way that he knew, Andrew pulled out his gun he began to wave it around and cried out, "what can stop me from blowing my brains out? What is wrong with me?"
It was at that moment God revealed himself, by telling Andrew specifically what had happened in his past that was causing him so much pain. Then encompassing him in what he describes as a "bright light" like a "tractor beam" from heaven, he knew immediately was the presence of a loving, caring, comforting and healing God.
It was on that rooftop that night, that Andrew understood the depth of his sin, and the depth of God's love and forgiveness.
